Book Review: The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck

The book The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson is a book about managing your problems and failures. I can aptly call this book a Problem Management manual.

The author talks about looking at problems from a different perspective. A perspective where you want to solve them rather than avoid them. The happiness you gain by solving the problems is much more lasting than that gained by avoiding them. He talks about failures and how and why we should take responsibility for the failures and look at correcting them which again feeds into your well-being.

The author stresses having the right values that shape one’s beliefs. If the values are not correct then the belief system is messed up and thereby you end up with a life that is stressful and without lasting happiness.

I found the book needs a lot of attention while reading, the language is not easy to follow. I found part of the book very interesting and some useful advice from the author. The rest of the parts were too obvious or repetitive of content/advice or boring. In a few places, I found the anecdotes were disconnected from the advice.

I didn’t enjoy reading this book and therefore I wouldn’t recommend this book.
