Race Results- Spanish Grand Prix- 2008

Great day for Ferrari!!!! One-Two finish is what every team dreams of. This is their 3rd Consecutive win of the season. This Ferrari one-two in Spain means the Italian team regain the lead in the constructors table from BMW Sauber, with 47 to the German- Swiss squad’s 35. Stunning performance by Kimi Raikkonen and Massa. This was back to back wins for Raikkonen. The Finn kept his cool through the race with Massa and Hamilton pushing the race leader. It was a dissapointing day for Two Time world champion Alonso who had to retired from the race on the 35th lap when smoke started coming out from rear of the car. He could not take the advantage of Home venue. Alonso has yet to produce a podium finish this season. McLaren also did not have a good day out here in the Catalunya circuit except for the 3rd place finish of Hamilton. Their other driver Kovalainen was injured when his car dumped into the tyres. He was lucky as he escaped unhurt and no major injuries. He was carried away in a stretcher and then flown by helicopter to the hospital in Barcelona. BMW Sauber have had a very good season so far with their drivers garnering points at will. They are behind the leaders Ferari in 2nd position and 1 point ahead of McLaren in 3rd position. Kubica of BMW Sauber finished 4th ahead of Webber, Button, Nakajima and Trulli who finished 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th respectively. Force India looked to salvage a point but were unsucessful but a appreciative performance by Fisichella. Sutil of Force India retired in the first lap, which was a major set back for Force India, who are looking forward to finish all the races this season. Disappointing day for Renault as both their drivers failed to finish the race. Their car seems to lack the pace.

Qualifying- Spanish Grand Prix, 2008

Renault’s Fernando Alonso nearly pulled off a miracle for his fellow countrymen in Barcelona on SaturdaySpanish GP afternoon, but it was Kimi Raikkonen who pipped him for pole position for Ferrari right at the end of a dramatic qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Now we have to wait and see on Sunday who was running less fuel, but the indications are pretty clear… Just so you know, the last seven pole sitters have gone on to win the Spanish Grand Prix. Could Alonso provide the exception to the rule?
