Book Review: 11 Rules For Life – Chetan Bhagat

Chetan Bhagat is an internationally acclaimed Indian writer known for his work in fiction. Some of his books have been adopted into Bollywood films which have gone on to become some of the highest grossing films in the industry. He also authored some non fiction works but the book: 11 Rules For Life is his first in the Self Help category.

Chetan Bhagat has elegantly used his expertise in fiction to create a fictional narrative around which the 11 rules of life are explained. The main character in the book apart from the author himself is a highly educated food delivery guy who is devasted by the incidents in his life. The way the author has narrated the 11 rules of life makes the reader feel that the author is talking to you. You can relate to the delivery guy’s problems in life at some point or other.

Chetan Bhagat has extensively used his life examples for each of the advice, how he was at the receiving end of reality of life and how he overcame these problems to build a great career in all facets of his life. He starts with most important aspect of life which is the health and ends with equally important aspect of life which is the money.

I read 75% of the book on my flight and the rest after reaching home. This book will not bore you and the advices are highly relevant to all Indians. The author has understood the problems faced by the youth and has beautifully explained solution to those problems in this book.
